K22 Serial number question Hello gentlemen, I'm new here and seeking some expert opinions. |

The number on the cylinder/butt is the S/N The Number on the crane is a build number that should match with the number right above it on the frame. You should also find the S/N on the face of the crane (looking through a chamber on larger caliber guns, hard to see on a k22), also under the barrel. |

Welcome! Any letters on the bottom of the grip frame in front of the 98xxx are part of the official SN. It may be a K with or without a number in front of it. If you can tell us we can tell you how old your gun is fairly accurately. __________________ |

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! If there is a K in front of your numerical serial number, your K22 was made in 1950. It just has to be a post-war K22 because the pre-war Outdoorsman and K22 Masterpiece serial numbers are too high for it to be one of those guns. Guy __________________ |

If it is a prewar gun it will begin with a 6, be six digits, and have no letters anywhere. If yours is K98xxx you already have the info you need. If not, post the complete serial # or a picture of the butt of the pistol. __________________ |

The others have answered your questions. I will just add, "Welcome to the Forum." How about some pictures of your relatively early K-22 Masterpiece? We all love those revolvers and pictures of them! __________________ |

WOW! Thanks for the rapid response. No K before the serial numbers and it is 5 screw gun. JP I'll attempt pictures but no promises from this computer challenged senior. Thanks All! |

Something is fishy. A five digit number on the butt beginning with 98, and no K prefix, cannot denote a K-22, unless the number has been altered. Now we need pictures more than ever. __________________ |

Does your gun have an adjustable rear sight? If it does look again on the butt for a K. It may be separated from the numerical part by quite a distance. Also is the gun butt a round butt or a square butt? Guy __________________ |

It could be a Kit Gun from after 1953, when they started a new serial prefix. But by 98000, it would have a model number in the yoke cut. And, of course, that would not be a K frame revolver. How long is the barrel, Bob? __________________ |

OK, if it was a snake I'd be bitten. Yes, there is a K prefix on the butt and it has a target rib with adjustable rear sight on a 6" barrel. I'm having no luck with photos, but thank you all for your help. |

I have a K22 I’d like to know when it was made. Is there a database of serial Numbers online? |

No, but if you will start a new thread with pictures and the serial number, someone will look up an approximate production or shipping date for you. If there is K in front of the serial numbers on the butt, even if separated, that's part of the gun serial. __________________ |
