Early life
Dr. Dre was born on February 18, 1965 in Compton, California. He was born to Theodore Young (father) and Verna Young (mother). His parents named him Andre Romelle Young. He was born a year after his parents got married.
When Dr. Dre was three years old, his parents separated and finalized their divorce in 1972. He began living alone with his mother in 1968. He is the older brother of American rapper Warren G, who includes Jerome Crayon, Tyree Crayon, Shameka Crayon.
Growing up, he lived in many different neighborhoods in California because his family moved frequently. He lived in Carson, Compton, Long Beach, Watts, and South Central.
Dr. Dre was raised primarily by his grandmother, who lived in the New Wilmington Arms housing complex in Compton.
Education
Dr. Dre attended Vanguard Junior High School, Compton and entered the school in 1976. But he left the school due to gang violence and continued his studies at Roosevelt Junior High School.

He also attended Centennial High School and Freemont High School.
Career
Dr. Dre’s debut solo album, The Chronic, was released in 1992. The project was released under Death Row Records, a label he co-owned with Suge Knight. The album helped him gain popularity in the music world and he was one of the best-selling artists of 1993.
Let Me Ride and Nuthin but a G Thang were some of the album’s hits. The Chronic earned Dr. Dre a Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance.
Dr. Dre helped Snoop Dogg become a star in the music industry by contributing to the creation of his debut studio album, Doggystyle. He is credited as a producer on the album, which sold thousands of copies in the United States.
Due to internal disagreements among label executives, Dr. Dre left Death Row Records to form another music label, Aftermath Entertainment, in 1996. He produced a compilation album titled Dr. Dre Presents the Aftermath that same year. In 1999, he released the solo album 2001. His third album, Compton, was released in August 2015.
Dr. Dre has helped many aspiring musicians develop into A-list artists as a music entrepreneur. Eminem and 50 Cent are two notable examples. He signed Eminem in 1998, while 50 Cent joined the Aftermath Entertainment family in 2002. He has collaborated with other artists such as Xzibit, The DOC, The Game, Kendrick Lamar, Nate Dogg, Mary J. Blige, King T, Kurupt, and Anderson .Paak.
He has won six Grammy Awards, including Producer of the Year and Non-Classical categories. He is ranked 56th on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
Dr. Dre released his first headphone brand, Beats By Dr. Dre, in July 2008. He grew the brand over the years into a multi-billion dollar company. Apple purchased the Beats brand for $3 billion in 2014.

Dr. Dre had his first child at the age of sixteen with his then-girlfriend, Cassandra Joy Greene. Cassandra Joy Greene was only 15 years old when she gave birth to their son, Curtis Young.

He was in a long-term serious relationship with Lisa Johnson. Their first daughter, La Tanya Danielle Young, was born in 1983. The couple also had two other daughters.
He had a son named Andre Young Jr., with Jenita Porter. Andre Young Jr. was born in 1988 and died in 2008 at the age of 20 from a drug overdose (heroin).
Dr. Dre was in a relationship with singer Michel’le for nine years, from 1987 to 1996. They welcomed their son, Marcel Young, in 1991.
